The KAMII Office is generally open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the usual exceptions for Jewish and National Holidays. The building is often open on weekends and evenings for events. Check the calendar for details.
We are delighted to work with the United States Secret Service who provide security for President Obama's Chicago home. While access to the synagogue is not restricted for members and guests, we kindly ask that you bring a government-issued photo ID. We appreciate your cooperation with any of the agents who may need to speak with you.
If you are arriving on foot, you can enter the synagogue block from the north side of Hyde Park Blvd. (at University Ave.) or from the intersection of 50th St. and Greenwood Ave.
If you are arriving by vehicle, please be advised that vehicular access is limited on Greenwood Ave. To access the synagogue parking lot, please proceed south from the intersection of 50th St. and Greenwood Ave. (past the sign that reads 'residental traffic only') one half block to the synagogue parking lot on the left (immediately before the second security barrier).
If you are dropping someone off at the synagogue, we would appreciate it if you would do so at the intersection of Hyde Park Blvd. and University Ave. to help ease congestion in our parking lot. If dropping off members and guests with mobility issues please proceed to the handicap entrance in the synagogue parking lot.
When the presidential family is home, additional security measures may be in place. Please be patient and allow additional time when coming to the synagogue.
We have two wheelchair ramps in our facility, one at the entrance to the Greenwood Lobby, and one at our parking lot entrance. Handicap parking is available, with close access to our parking lot entrance. The inside of our building is handicap accessible, with the exception of the Nursery School and Religious School, which are only accessible by stairs.
