"Our child has grown so much in her time at KAM, though it has only been nine months. She has thrived in Ms. Laura's classroom, coming out of her shell and feeling more comfortable in social situations, expressing herself verbally more often, and being able to regulate her emotions and actions with more self-control. She has developed strong friendships with almost every child in the class, comfortable being a team player in the classroom. We also love the integration of the Jewish culture. We've all learned a lot! Academically, she has also grown (although that is less of a focus for us right now). She recognizes shapes, numbers and letters. She can read some words and is so interested in many things that are talked about in her class. Her fine motor skills have come a long way too. She is writing all kinds of things and writing with developmental spelling. We LOVE Ms. Laura and the classroom culture she has developed with the children. "Spreading the love," sharing the nuggets of wisdom such as, "you can't love other people if you don't love yourself," listening to the children and making them laugh (and more) has created a classroom community ripe with love, a strong foundation for any child for the rest of his/her life. In combination with the terrific classroom experience for our child, we couldn't be happier with the partnership with Ms. Laura and Ms. Sarah or with the community of parents that we've happily developed friendships with. Being new to Hyde Park, this was important to us. We're thrilled that we could share in Ms. Laura's amazing gift of working with children and being part of the KAM community."
Q: Describe the learning environment.
A: Our caring staff, bright and spacious classrooms, and outdoor play space provide a learning environment designed to meet a variety of young children's individual needs and interests. Classrooms are organized into interest centers which encourage social interaction and include materials for fantasy and block play, expressive art, sand and water play, manipulatives, puzzles, and games. The extensive library of imaginative children's literature promotes children's love of books and reading while the outdoor playground provides more active play on challenging equipment. The daily schedule provides a balance of activity and quiet experiences.
